QUIZ RALLY
Coordinated by Alamo & Hilltop Pony Club
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: FEBRUARY 1-2024
The mission of Quiz is to promote a deep understanding and familiarity with the material presented at each certification level. Quiz is a fundamental and creative learning tool. Many aspects of Pony Club mounted rallies can be learned at the Quiz Rally. This rally, besides challenging Pony Club members to learn horsemanship and horse care, provides them with opportunities to display and learn good sportsmanship, leadership, stewardship, and teamwork as they prepare thoroughly, plan and cooperate with their teammates, and take winning or losing in stride. This is an unmounted event and everyone will learn so much from participating. This year, only participation in the Quiz Rally is needed for qualification for Pony Club Nationals. Parents are needed to volunteer at this event. So please sign up.

SHOW JUMPING RALLY
Coordinated by Lone Star Pony Club & Lone Star Riding Club
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: MARCH 1- 2024
A Show Jumping competition is usually comprised of multiple rounds that feature entirely different courses, designed to challenge the horse and rider in many ways. Show jumping courses can consist of anywhere from 8 to 12 obstacles, including water, walls, panels, and combinations, or a series of multiple jumps in a line. Horse and rider must negotiate the specified course in the allotted time without bringing any of the elements down or touching the water. If each round is completed clearly, without incurring any penalties, the horse and rider move on to a shorter course as a timed jump-off. The winner is determined by the fastest, penalty-free round.

DRESSAGE RALLY
Coordinated by Texas Heat Pony Club & Brazos Pony Club
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: TBD
Dressage Competitions are held at many levels, beginning with Walk-Trot and Training Level, and continuing through nine levels to Grand Prix. A dressage test is a series of movements, performed at various gaits, designed to test the rider’s ability to communicate with their horse. Each movement is performed at a specified point in the arena and is scored individually on a scale from 0 to 10. A score of 0 means no portion of the movement was executed, while a score of 10 shows excellent execution. The individual scores are added and then calculated as a percentage of possible points to come up with a final score. The highest percentage wins the class.

USPC Rio Grande Region
Standards & Certification Clinic
Led by National Examiner | Debra Sue Waters
REGISTRATION DEADLINE: TBD
The aim is to be consistent across our region examining the lower level ratings and prepare our members to be successful in National ratings. The S&C clinic demonstrates the rising skills required for the D-1 through the C-2 standards of proficiency. The presentation is geared towards instructors who teach Pony Club, leadership, members, and parents. Additionally, anyone who would like to be considered on the Local Level Examiners list. You will learn the difference between a D-2 and D-3 rider. You will learn the Basic Balanced Position. You will learn what riding skills set a C-2 apart from the lower levels. Tips on how to conduct a test will also be included.
Prepare by reviews the SOPs and bring printed copies with you.
The morning will consist of a power point presentation and discussion of riding position and effectiveness of aids at each level followed by a lunch break and the afternoon will have demonstration riders that will be evaluated by the participants. Hopefully! We will have demo riders from the dressage clinic and some of them jump... so we will need 2-3 demo riders at each level.
